Shopify Misfire — Never miss Shopify Uninstall reasons again

As a Shopify App developer it’s critical to read every merchant’s “uninstall reason”. All successful Shopify developers do it! However, they’re super hard to find inside the Shopify dashboard. Therefore, I automated it!

Every time a merchant uninstall your app, they’re asked to provide feedback about why they are uninstalling.

This feedback is critical! You just lost a customer and he’s telling you exactly why. This is your chance to fix it for next time. Reading this feedback helped me tremendously to increase my app installs.

Typical feedback received from a merchant

However, this feedback is hard to find. You need to login into the Shopify partner dashboard and click through 3–4 screens for each Shopify app to get to the “event history” section.

Once you’re there, you’re not done at all. You need to click through multiple pages to find those “uninstall” feedback mixed among many other app events (installations, usage charges). Filtering has improved the experience a little, but it’s still terrible.

To fix this I coded misfire.app. Now every time a merchant uninstalls my app, I get the feedback right into my email inbox. If you’re interested, sign up for the early access.

I choose this name because for me, when a merchant uninstalls my app it’s a “misfire”. It’s something I need to fix for next time! It’s like a car refusing to start and you need to figure out why, but the “car” is your app and the fuel is your customers.
